I think everyone has said it so perfectly, the world is a better place because Saralie has been in it and it will continue to shine because Rainy is here and she is her legacy, her biggest accomplishment. There is no family better or stronger than the Herakovich's. My heart is with all of you and I wish you all peace in your hearts. Love, Rachel |

To The Herakovich Family, Please know that although we are not close by to show our condolences in person, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I promise to go to my parish and light a candle on behalf of Saralie - for that candle will represent her everlasting light and glow that she had shown upon many of us. When my Dad passed away this year, I gave my sisters a Maltese Cross charm (or fireman's cross), which said..."The Lord Watch Between Me and Thee While We Are Absent One From Another." And I believe everyday that he gives me the strength to live a full and happy life while we are apart. If we are lucky - my Dad and Saralie are hopefully watching "The Bears" together! Maybe for them...they'll finally win another Super Bowl :) Love, Sharon Pavol-Clarken & Family |

FOR THOSE OF US WHO WERE BLESSED TO KNOW SARALIE, A BEAUTIFUL SOUL, WHO ALWAYS HAD A BRIGHT SMILE. WE WOULD LAUGH FOR HOURS ABOUT OUR BOYS AND THE DARNEST THINGS THEY WOULD ASK OR SAY.FROM THE FIRST DAY WE BECAME NEIGHBORS I KNEW SARA AND RAINEY WOULD ALWAYS BE A BIG PART OF MY FAMILIES LIVES. SHE WAS A SECOND MOM TO MY SON ZAC AND I TO FOR RAINEY. SARA WOULD ALWAYS SAY THEY ARE MORE THAN BEST FRIENDS THEY ARE LIKE BROTHES.MY SON ZAC LOVED SARA AND RAINEY SO MUCH THAT WHEN WE FIRST MOVED HE SPENT ALMOST EVERY WEEKEND AT STEVE'S WITH THEM.HE WOULD COME HOME ON SUNDAY NIGHTS AND WOULD GO ON AND ON ABOUT ALL THE FUN HE HAD WITH THEM AND COULD NOT WAIT TILL THE WEEKEND. SARA AND I WOULD TALK OFTEN AND I WOULD ALWAYS TELL HER GOD HAS A PLAN AND WHEN HE WAS READY SHE WOULD BE ALSO.I DON'T THINK I PERSONAL COULD HAVE WALKED IN HER SHOES BECAUSE I WAS NEVER CHILD LIKE AS SARA.SHE HAD A WAY ABOUT HER THAT MADE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU WERE STILL IN JUNIOR HIGH.WHEN I MEET HER FAMILY THAT SHE ALWAYS TALKED ABOUT, I COULD SEE SARA'S SMILE IN HER FATHERS FACE AS HE SMILED.NEVER BEFORE HAVE A WITNESS SUCH LOVE FROM A PARENT TO GROWN CHILD, DON YOUR MY HERO.SARA WAS SO LUCKY TO HAVE YOU AS HER FATHER. RITA THE STRONG ONE, JUST REMEMBER GOD NEVER GIVES US MORE THAN WE CAN HANDLE.MAY HE COMFORT YOU IN THIS TIME OF NEED,YOUR IN MY PRAYERS. AND FOR OUR RAINEY EVERY TIME YOU LOOK UP IN THE SKY JUST KNOW YOUR MOTHER IS IN HEAVEN WITH GOD WATCHING OVER YOU. I PROMISED HER THAT I WOULD CONTINUE TO LET YOU KNOW WHAT YOU MEANT TO HER AND HOW MUCH SHE LOVED YOU. TO THE MOON AND BACK.RAINEY YOU WERE HER BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT, SHE ALWAYS SAID GOD GAVE HER LIFE TO CREATE HER ONE TRUE LOVE IN HER LIFE. THAT WOULD BE YOU!!!! SARA MY FRIEND I WILL MISS YOU EACH DAY. I KNOW YOU KNEW HOW MUCH I LOVED YOU AND EVEN THOUGH YOU COULDN'T SAY IT I COULD FEEL IT AND SEE IT IN YOUR TEARED EYES.JUST AS ROBERT REDFORD STATED TO HIS FRIEND PAUL NEWMAN THE WORLD WAS A BETTER PLACE BECAUSE YOU WERE IN IT. Saralie, My heart and prayers are with you tonight as you move to a better place. Not a day has gone by since you have been diagnosed that I havent thought of you. With all that is going on in our country right now, and all we each have to deal with in regards to illness, and losing family members, know that this world was better because of you, and you will live on in Rainy. God love our children, and each other. We all have more in common then we are different. I love you Saralie, and I love your strength and how you made me smile. |

We heard about Sara's passing this morning and, as Luke had a soccer game, it seemed only right we dedicate the game to her. Sara was both Luke's first soccer coach and the first person we met in Munster. The Munster team lost, 4-3, but not without playing with passion, and not without Luke giving one or two BOOTS of which Sara was so fond. We still have the certificate she gave Luke for "Best Boot" hanging proudly. Like so many that knew her so much better than we did, we recognized her passion, her drive, her humor, her beauty, and know that all these things are not gone but live on in all that were lucky enough to know her. And live on, of course, in Rainy, one of the best young men I've ever had the pleasure to meet. Our thoughts, prayers, and love to her family at this time; she was truly a very, very, special person who, for my money, got the most out of life and wasn't cheated a bit. She will be missed. With love and affection, Jeff, Rebecca, and Luke Still. |

To the Herakovich Family, We have been keeping up with Darcy's blog and read of Saralie's passing this morning. Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers. When I walked out to the driveway earlier, I was thinking of you while facing your family home and a single droplet of rain landed on my face. It made me think of what Darcy had said in her blog. Words cannot express our sadness for your loss. Should you need anything at any time, please call at any hour. Sally & Sharon Dragomer |

Hello--This morning Saralie was born into eternal life at 6:40 am. on Sunday, God's day and perhaps a coincidince, a football Sunday, which Sara loved. She is at peace and STILL has a smile on her face. Please check www.nwitimes.com on Monday for arrangements. We are so thankful for all of the great people in Sara's life. Also, thank you for your respect of our family during this difficult time. Love, Darcy |

Sara I had just thought about you not long ago when going through a box of photos. I found one from our last day of high school (god forgive our hair-dos and clothes) and had wondered how you were. If only I had known sooner what a battle you were facing I would have loved to have had a chance to catch up with you. Not to mention tease you about your strange crush on Rob M. lol. Your smile and your sparkling personality will always make me smile. Christine Kozanda |

Dear Sara- A long time ago you gave me the book, The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, and yes... I read it back when you first gave it to me years ago... but I keep it by my bedside now and reread passages that I find moving, beautiful, and powerful, passages that I know you too would find beauty and strength in... tonight I was reading the chapter on friendship and these lines stood out to me, "And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed." I guess I found these lines so beautiful because our friendship was filled with that special kind of laughter, that special sharing of the most minute and most extreme moments in our lives... you have an infectious spirit that consistently refreshes my heart even if only thinking back to the advice you gave me in the past or the laughter that we shared while talking about absolutely nothing. I think of your laughter often, and it reminds me of just how beautiful of a friendship we have. Love, Ana A. |

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Herakovich & Family, I want you to know how much each and everyone of you have touched my life. I LOVED having Mr. Herakovich as my softball coach for so many years, and it was even better having "Saralie" on the field with us! You brought an unbelievable smile and energy that my Dad used to say was out of this world. I know that you are an awesome Mom to Rainy and he will love and cherish each and every moment you have given to him throughout his life. I am so honored to have had so many special memories with the Herakovich family while growing up! And one of the most heartfelt ones was when your Mom & Dad attended my wedding a few years back in Sanibel Island. It truly made me realize how special your entire family is to me. Thank you for being my friend. You are in my thoughts and prayers always - Love, Sharon Pavol-Clarken (Logan, Landon & Jeff) |

Dear Sara - I think of you everyday and pray for you. I will never forget your beautiful smile. When we visited the other day although you could talk to us, you smiled at us all and I will always remember you. Seeing you smile was the best gift for all of us. I am glad you are comfortable and not in pain. Lots of love, The Svolos Family (John, Athena, Dean, Jimmy and Michael) |

Hi everyone, First, on behalf of my family I want to thank you for your perpetual prayers and ongoing support. Your cards, emails, posts on this site mean so much to us, and we're sorry we can't respond appropriately to everyone. Please continue to keep our family in your prayers. I think you'll all be very happy to know that Sara is comfortale and a smile still is on her face most of the time. She sleeps a lot now and doesn't talk anymore, but she still smiles...both on her face and in her eyes. Everyone that knows her knows what I mean! That cannot be taken from her. She seems to be content and at peace, not in pain. Everyone reading this and writing on this web page has been blessed by having Sara touch a part of your life. I will keep everyone updated as I can, and thanks for your support, patience and respect for our family during this time. As Saralie would say: "XOXOXOXO" Darcy |

Sara, I just found out today about your cancer and I am so very sorry to hear the news. I have thought about you and your family throughout the years and always hoped you were well. I remember all those times we would hang out at your house and and make those friendship journals - it must have been around 7th or 8th grade - but some of my fondest childhood memories have you and Darcy in them. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with your entire family during this trying time. Please Take Care Suzi Riebe |
